APPLICATION TERMS & CONDITIONS • FEBRUARY 2027

The Art of the Quilt: A Celebration of Quilts is a judged exhibition presented by Two Rivers Arts in Montross, Virginia. By signing the application, each artist confirms that they have read and agree to the terms below.

1. ELIGIBILITY & ORIGINAL WORK

Quilters and fiber artists of all experience levels may enter. Each submitted quilt must be made by the submitting artist. Original designs are not required; traditional patterns, published patterns, and designs created by others are welcome. If a longarm quilter or another artist contributed to a piece, the submitting artist must identify that person and describe the contribution on the entry form.

2. CATEGORIES & ENTRY LIMIT

Each quilt must be registered in one category: Modern Quilt Designs; Art and Pictorial Quilts; Traditional Quilts; or Innovative Materials and Techniques. The last category welcomes inventive methods and materials, including foundation paper piecing, embroidery, silk ties, flannel, and upcycled or recycled textiles. If a quilt fits more than one category, select the one that best reflects its primary style or approach.

Artists may enter up to two quilts in each category, with a maximum of eight quilts total. Each quilt must be registered separately.

3. ENTRY FEES & COMPLETED APPLICATIONS

Early applications received on or before December 18, 2026: $15 for the first quilt and $10 for each additional quilt.

Final applications received December 19, 2026 through January 16, 2027: $20 for the first quilt and $10 for each additional quilt.

Submit the completed application, one entry-detail block per quilt, and a clear photograph of every completed quilt by January 16, 2027. A headshot and short artist biography are required for the exhibition webpage and publicity. Submit payment using the payment button on the quilt exhibition page at www.2RiversArts.com. Entry limits apply whether or not a quilt is for sale.

4. JUDGING, RIBBONS & AWARDS

The exhibition will be judged by a qualified quilt judge. First- and second-place ribbons will be awarded in each of the four categories. Third-place ribbons may be awarded at the judge’s discretion in categories with sufficient entries.

A Novice Quilter Award will be presented in each category for an eligible entrant who has never entered a judged quilt show before. A novice entrant may also receive a regular category ribbon. The judge will select one quilt for the Judge’s Choice Award, which includes a $100 cash prize.
