I have spent my adult life in the world of special-needs parenting and teaching. It has been the journey I was meant to travel, and one that I have treasured.
In 2021, our family made the decision to adjust our journey to a kinder, slower path. We moved to Colonial Beach, changing the pace and quality of our lives. The world seemed to slow down, giving us the opportunity to pause and truly take in the beauty around us.
After moving, my daughter and I began traveling together in the evenings to capture the sunsets. A few times each month, we would rise early to watch the sun sneak above the Potomac River. During these outings, I began photographing the local wildlife as well.
What began as an occasional adventure has become part of my daily meditation. I travel around town, camera in hand, simply taking in whatever the river, sky, wildlife, and changing light have to offer. Each day brings something different, and I never quite know what I will find.
I am also a lover of the local music scene. While enjoying the music of the Northern Neck, I love capturing not only the musicians, but also the energy, emotion, and spirit of the crowd. For me, photography is about capturing a moment and preserving the feeling of being there.
My work is currently displayed at CB Creative, Colonial Beach Brewing, and Pier 909 in Colonial Beach.
While I am available for traditional photo sessions, my greatest passion is capturing the unique moments and opportunities that our local environment provides—a waterman out crabbing, a family enjoying a day on the water or beach, wildlife along the river, a spectacular sunset, or the unexpected beauty of an ordinary day.
Living in Colonial Beach has taught me to slow down, look closely, and appreciate what is right in front of me. Photography has become my way of sharing those moments with others.
